Services for Young People
What services do we provide?
Our homelessness services work closely with you on your journey out of homelessness, with support, advice and advocacy. We want to reduce your risk by sticking with you through the tough times, acting promptly when you need us and responding early to prevent you being without a home.
Our services for young people are provided by our alliance partners Centacare, The Salvation Army, and UnitingSA, as well as independent accommodation service Foyer Port Adelaide delivered by St John’s Youth Services.

Services for Young People (aged 15-25) and their families
How can we help?
We aim to work in partnership with you to address the causes of your homelessness, acting promptly when you need us, and responding early to support you to overcome challenges.
Our services for young people (aged 15-25) and their families are provided by our alliance partners Centacare, The Salvation Army, and UnitingSA.
What support do we offer?
We can help you to:
- Find and access the right support, at the right time with the right service
- Find and maintain housing including on-site crisis accommodation
- Access case management support that meets your needs
- Access referrals to other services
- Transition to independent living
- Get involved in your community
- Access education, employment and training

Our team is available Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Who can access these services?
Young people (aged 15-25) and their families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Our crisis accommodation is accessible to young people aged between 15 and 18 who have an independent income (like Youth Allowance), or are in the process of having their payment application finalised.
Where do we offer support?
Centacare delivers services and support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the following council areas:
- Playford
- Gawler
- Barossa Valley
The Salvation Army delivers services and support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the following council areas:
- Tea Tree Gully
- Salisbury
UnitingSA delivers services and support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the following council areas:

How can we help?
Foyer Port Adelaide provides independent accommodation for 23 young people who want to engage with education, training and/or employment.
Foyer Port Adelaide aims to provide young people with support and mentoring to:
- Develop independent living skills
- Obtain and/or maintain education, training or employment
- Engage positively with local communities
Our alliance partner St John’s Youth Services delivers Foyer Port Adelaide – South Australia’s first foyer – in partnership with the Department of Human Services.
What support do we offer?
We can help you to:
- Set your own goals and provide a team of case workers to help you achieve these goals
- Work with you to develop plans focused on your employment, training or education goals and other areas of your life where you would like help, such as accommodation, independent living skills, health and wellbeing, cultural identity, and positive community connections
- Develop life skills, as well as and as leadership and team work skills

Who can access these services?
The first step is to check whether Foyer Port Adelaide is right for you.
To be eligible for accommodation at Foyer Port Adelaide you will:
- Be aged between 16 and 21 and experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness
- Be engaged in education, employment and/or training or actively working towards this
- Have a regular income (this can include a Centrelink independent allowance)
- Have the capacity to live independently
- Have the capacity to participate in programs offered and be committed to doing so
- Sign an agreement (the ‘Deal’) demonstrating your commitment to participating in the Foyer community and ensuring this agreement continues to be actively reviewed and implemented.
